“WASHINGTON SQUARE” PARK

SHELTER HOUSE

The process of a project requires time and patience.  Both of these characteristics are vital to attain a successful result! As we exercise these characteristics, the “Visionary Group” is currently defining the plan, step by step, of the newly proposed Shelter House.

One of our goals is that the Shelter House will be a very special addition to the “Washington Square” park. The Shelter will include features that add to its uniqueness and also become an asset for our community today and in the future.

We plan on giving you a “sneak peek” of the plans for the New Shelter House in a future publication  of the Friendly Valley Times.

“WASHINGTON SQUARE”

1920's

MANY  YEARS AGO  this “Band Stand” stood on

“Washington Square”

This  facility was used by the school  band to hold their weekly Saturday night  concerts for the public.  Word has it that the structure was torn down   when the new school was built in 1928.

We are closing in on 100 years since this little Band Stand  was part of the landscape and  today remains  a special  and significant  part of the  history  of  “Washington Square”& Steamboat Rock.

“ WASHINGTON  SQUARE PARK ”

2015

The landscape of Washington Square has had many changes thru the years  since the 1920's.  In 2013  the “Visionary Group”  took on as their project to transform “ Washington Square”  into a “Park” like setting. Phase one of the project  was completed in June of 2014 with the installation  of”state  of the art “  playground equipment.  We move forward to Phase  two which will be  the addition  of a Shelter House  to include features that will add to its uniqueness and superiority .

All great projects  come with a price. Phase 2  of the Washington Square Project Park (Shelter)  is no exception. It would be great if this shelter could be available for  family picnics  the summer of  2015.  It can be  but we need your help.   Please   consider  sending a donation to fund this project .   All donations are tax deductible.. Please make your checks  payable to &  mail to :
